Built in 1936, the private villa of Muller is located at 30 South Shaanxi Road where is the office of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League now. The reddish brown building is made of firebricks marked with color tiles. Inside are rooms of different sizes for various purposes and the bronzing floors, stairs and wainscots are made of teaks and ornamented under the west styles. The garden is walled by firebricks and covered with glazed tiles on the top. Beside the tiled greenhouse and grape house, there are graves for horses and dogs accompanied with bronze horse statues and granite gravestones for Mr. Muller loved horses and dogs. Mr. Muller was called the king of horseracing and it is said that his daughter who dreamed a big building in fairy tale style designed the Norwegian styled residence.
