Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone

Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone, serving as a centre for international trade, features attractive high-rise offices, hotels and apartment buildings for exhibition, office, business talks, residence, as well as entertainment.

Located to the west of downtown Shanghai, Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone is 6.5 km away from the city centre, and 5.5 km away from the Hongqiao International Airport. With convenient transportation links, peaceful environment, it is now a new commercial and trading zone of Shanghai.

The total planned area for Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone is 65.2 hectares, of which 30.4 hectares are designated for construction of buildings, 19.3 hectares are for afforested purposes and 15.5 hectares are for roads. All the roads in the zone have been completed. Utilities have been laid, including those for rain drainage, sewage drainage, supply of water, gas, electric power, and telecommunications. Green trees line the roads. Sites have been levelled, ready to provide land to investors ever since 1985.

Approved by Shanghai Municipal Government, the Hongqiao United Development Co. Ltd., located in the zone, is not only in charge of developing and running the zone, but also responsible for using and managing the land here. It organises and manages the construction of infrastructural projects in the zone, engages in real estate business with its own investment or in the forms of equity joint venture or co- operative joint venture, builds and rents out office buildings, apartments and residential buildings, runs hotels, restaurants, shopping-malls, sports and recreational grounds, transportation and other service industries; handles the import & export business for itself and other enterprises; introduces partners for foreign investors in setting up equity joint ventures or co-operative ventures; offers consultancy and agency services.

Banking, customs, taxation, commodity inspection, insurance and courier services are available in the zone, which makes it easy for enterprises located in the zone to develop import & export business.
