Debates over the quality
of commodities made in Shanghai have been going
on in the recent years. Shanghai had been known
all over the country for the high quality of a wide
variety of products.
'96 Shanghai Orange Fair
is held in Pudong New Area, during which oranges
produced in Changxing Island will be recommended.
About 125,000 pots of chrysanthemum
have been placed in Yangpu Park where there will
a series of cultural activities with the focus on
flowering-viewing.
Shanghai Talent Fair, sponsored
by Shanghai Talent Market and Shanghai Science Association,
is held on October 27. About 13,558 people from
all walks of life attend it. The hottest professions
are marketing, engineering, administration, translating,
teaching, etc.
An exhibition called "Hongyan(Red
Rock) Soul" is warmly welcomed by local citizens.
Pictures of the martyrs and their stories are displayed.
Pupils from local schools are organized to visit
it and most of them are moved to tears after learning
the inside story about "Little Radish Head".
The computer software industry
in Shanghai has been growing steadily. Last year
value of export is approximately US$20 million.
More than 90% of the exports were imported by the
U.S. and Japan.
